Crocodile, Hook & Grabber Clips

Hook clips, sometimes known as test hook clips, IC clips or hook probes, are small plastic probes which fit onto the end of a test lead. They are used to create a temporary electrical connection which can be used with delicate components.Hook clips and Test Leads are used together to test electrical connections. When connected to a device, such as a multimeter, you can monitor and test electronic circuits. This is essential for maintenance or looking for faults. Hook clips and test leads can also be used during prototyping on a breadboard. How do they work? They feature a mechanism, such as a spring, which controls the hook. Once it is pushed, the hook will protrude out of the clip. Once it is released, the hook will retract back inside the clip. The spring hook can be hooked onto a wire or lead to create an electrical connection. The hook can hold onto the connection until the spring is pushed to release it again, allowing you to work hands-free. They grasp tiny components firmly and avoid short-circuiting.Hook clips are made from a metal hook. This is often made from brass and may feature gold-plating. The clip housing is made from a plastic for insulation purposes.Where are test hook clips used?PrototypingElectronics testingRepairing devices
